Of particular interest is his memoir, "Seasick Texas Submariner," which was used, in part, for the CBS television series "The Silent Service" in the late 1950s.

World War II veteran, educator, college president. Born in 1914 in Gray County, Texas. Was awarded both his B.S. (1940) and his M.S. (1941) by Texas Technological College. Received his Ph.D. (1950) from Cornell University. Served in the United States Navy from 1942-1945 and was twice awarded the Silver Star. Served on the faculty of Sam Houston State College, Texas A & M University, and the University of Nevada before being appointed President of Berry College, Mount...
